Generic Facilities Description:

The TEAM Lab is a state-of-the-art core facility within the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UC Davis, dedicated to supporting innovative research and development. Established in 2010, our lab bridges the gap between engineering advances and practical applications by providing advanced design and fabrication services to the university's research community. Our mission is to support cutting-edge research by offering access to comprehensive engineering design, prototyping, and manufacturing services.

Our lab has accumulated over 0.25 million combined manufacturing hours, demonstrating extensive experience in design and fabrication. With more than $2 million invested in advanced hardware and facilities, we offer researchers access to cutting-edge equipment for 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC machining, and other specialized manufacturing processes. In the 2023-2024 fiscal year, we serviced 98 unique Principal Investigators (PIs) from 42 different departments, spanning disciplines including biomedical engineering, clinical research, animal sciences, and engineering.

With approximately 15 years of service to the University of California and beyond, the TEAM Lab has become a vital resource for both academic and industry projects. Each year, we process around 500 projects, manufacturing approximately 2,500 unique objects, with over 3,000 projects completed since our inception. Our experienced team works closely with researchers to ensure their project needs are met, from prototyping to final production, leveraging our technical expertise and extensive fabrication capabilities.

Currently located on the UC Davis main campus, the TEAM Lab is expanding its operations into Sacramento, scheduled to open in March 2025. The new facility will occupy over 8,500 square feet in the Aggie Square innovation hub in Sacramento, strategically located adjacent to the UC Davis Health campus. This proximity fosters collaboration with clinical researchers and enhances opportunities for translational research, facilitating the seamless integration of engineering solutions into clinical settings. Both TEAM Lab facilities will collaborate closely to facilitate the transfer of parts between the Sacramento and Davis locations, ensuring researchers across both campuses have access to this technology.
