Design & Development Services 

 

 Engineering Consultation and Design Aid

We support all stages of the design development process, from initial concept and CAD (Computer Aided Design) modeling to prototyping and iterative refinement. Whether you need a simple bracket or a complex, microcontroller-driven electromechanical device, we’re ready to assist. Share your challenge, and we’ll engineer a custom solution to meet your specific requirements.

Medical Image Data Segmentation

If your project relies on medical imaging data, TEAM can assist with DICOM data segmentation. With years of experience isolating various tissue types, such as bone and soft tissue, we ensure accurate and detailed results.

This process often requires data refinement, repair, or augmentation, which we can handle seamlessly.

Once segmentation is complete, we offer follow-up services (see below), including 3D printing of the segmented data or displaying it on AR/VR headsets for enhanced visualization.

  • If your effort is in the domain of animal medicine OR for non-clinical care, please work directly with TEAM via a standard service request
  • For human-clinical applications, TEAM is proud to partner with 3DPrintViz of UCD Health. 
  • Via this relationship, TEAM provides the hardware and engineering expertise, while 3DPrintViz provides the clinical experience and perspective.  
  • If your effort is UC Davis Health affiliated, please engage with our partners at "3DPrintViz" to ensure our routine is FDA compliant.  

 

3D Scanning, Reverse Engineering, Motion Capture

Digitize your physical object into a 3D model using our precision measurement or 3D scanning services. We can provide you with a raw point cloud, 3D mesh, or parametric model, depending on your project needs.

Additionally, we offer gait analysis services for both humans and animals, utilizing a combination of software and time-of-flight sensors for accurate data capture.

 

AR/VR Environment Development and Capture

We provide advanced AR/VR hardware, including Meta Quest and Microsoft HoloLens, paired with expert software solutions to render your 3D data. Whether you're previewing a design—from building to benchtop scale—or visualizing medical imaging for surgical planning, we have the tools and expertise to support you.

Additionally, we offer 3D scene capture services. Using specialized cameras, we can capture your space for immersive playback on AR/VR headsets.

Education and Outreach

The TEAM Lab provides critical support to the UC Davis Biomedical Engineering program through specialized technical guidance, advanced training, and course integration. Our facility affords students access to advanced design and fabrication technologies. Our contributions encompass course integration across numerous biomedical engineering courses, as well as upcoming support for the Master of Engineering in Medical Device Development program. In addition, we offer training for researchers and facilitate initiatives such as the BMES Medical Make-a-Thon, fostering innovation and equipping students with the skillset necessary to excel in modern engineering environments.

 

Grant Support

The TEAM Lab supports researchers seeking grant funding by providing essential documentation, including facilities descriptions and letters of support. Our descriptions highlight the lab's advanced equipment, technical expertise, and collaborative environment to strengthen your proposal. We aim to be a trusted partner in helping you secure funding and advance your research goals.
